     Joseph Wofford Locke was Born into a Presbyterian home. He was born on 4 September 1927 at Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA. He was educated in May 1945 at Spartanburg, SC. He began military service in June 1945 SK3/c Navy, WWII. He was initially an Apprentice Seaman. Then Seaman 1st Class. They left Seattle, Washington in convoy to Okinawa, headed for the invasion of Japan. The bombs: Aug 6, on Hiroshima and Aug 9, on Nagasaki. Aug 15, end of war. Sept 1945 they went to Korea and carried two Marine Divisions from Okinawa to Korea. They traveled from Korea to the Philippines. Then to China and made two trips from Hong Kong to Northern China - hauling Chang Ki Scheck Nationalist Troops to Northern China. Back to the Philippines and return to US with Load of Troops going home. In 1946, participated in Operation Crossroads in Bikini: ABLE test A 7/1/46; then BAKER test B 7/25/46 while in the navy in September 1945.¹ He ended military service in December 1946. He was (an unknown value.) He married Annie Rebecca (Betty) Strider, daughter of Lovick Pierce Strider and Alice Marguerite Kluttz, on 19 February 1950 at Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA. Joseph Wofford Locke was Tax Accountant in June 1950. He was educated in June 1951 at Spartanburg. He died on 4 May 2011 at Spartanburg, South Carolina, at age 83; Wofford had fallen on the front porch and broken his arm. While in the hospital they noticed he was very anemic and ran some tests. They identified that he had another slow bleed in the brain that was causing him to have trouble balancing. While going through rehab at the nursing home the second week after the fall, he became very sick. He was transfered back to the hospital with pneumonia and other complications. His kidneys started to fail and he died at 2:05 am on May 4th.

     Annie Rebecca (Betty) Strider was born on 24 November 1926 at Asheville, North Carolina, USA. She was (an unknown value.) She was educated in June 1944; Spartanburg HS. She was Alexander's Music House, Homemaker in July 1944. She married Joseph Wofford Locke, son of Joseph Greene Locke and Leila Merle Wofford, on 19 February 1950 at Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA. Annie Rebecca (Betty) Strider was Diagnosed with AML - Accute Myelodysplasia: bone marrow faulty production of cells in December 2001. Betty S. Locke, loving wife of J. Wofford Locke, died on Saturday, January 19, 2002 at Spartanburg Regional: Gibbs Cancer Center. She was 75 years old. Born in Asheville, NC, and moved to Spartanburg in 1940, she was the daughter of the late Lovick Pierce and Alice Marguerite Kluttz Strider. She and Wofford were married in 1950 and enjoyed fifty-two years together.

She was a dedicated member of Bethel United Methodist Church for sixty-one years. During this time she served in many different roles, including Children's Choir Director, a member of the Sanctuary Choir, and handbells. She was an active member of the H. F. Chreitzberg Sunday School Class and served as a member of the United Methodist Women, including past president. She enjoyed being a member of the Music Club of Spartanburg, Spartanburg Symphony Chorus, Poinsettia Garden Club, and the Homemakers Club.

She is survived by her husband; her two children, a daughter and son-in-law, Alice L. and Tom DeLamar of Conway, SC, and son and daughter-in-law, Joseph W. "Joe" and Debbie Locke of Spartanburg. She has four grandchildren, Benjamin and Chrissie DeLamar, and Jordan and Daniel Locke; and two great-grandchildren, Mykayla and Brentley DeLamar. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Strider and his wife Donna of Boise, ID and sister, Margaret Forehand and her husband, Gordon of Madisonville, TN.

Visitation will be from 7-9 pm, Tuesday, January 22, 2002, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm, Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at Bethel United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Lawrence Hays, Sr., and the Rev. Daniel Morrison. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church to either the Sanctuary Choir or the Youth Mission Fund, 245 S. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.

The family is at the home of her son, Joe Locke, 782 Glenridge Road, Spartanburg, SC.

Sarah Anne Locke died on 15 January 2018 at Spartanburg, South Carolina, at age 85; SPARTANBURG, SC-- Sarah Anne Locke Cudd, 85, of Spartanburg, went home to be with her Lord Monday, January 15, 2018. A native of Spartanburg, she was the wife of the late Dock B. Cudd and the daughter of the late Joseph Greene and Merle Wofford Locke. She was a graduate of Converse College and a former school teacher. Mrs. Cudd was a member of Skylyn Drive Presbyterian Church, formerly Spartanburg Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two sons, David Cudd of Surfside Beach, SC and Leslie Cudd of Spartanburg. and one sister, Cherry Murph of Cowpens. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cudd was preceded in death by two brothers, Wofford Locke and Dewey Locke, and one sister, Vivian McBride.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel with the Rev. Kris Showen officiating. Interment will be in Sandy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
