He married (Sarah) Eleanor Bushrod circa 1760. John "Stamping Wolf" Wofford was given property via a royal grant on 5 November 1773 at South Carolina.3 He left a will in 1808 at Lancaster Ord of, South Carolina; WILL OF JOHN WOFFORD SR Spartanburg, SC written 1808; probated 1813.

And in respect of the rest of my children, I have given them and each of them in my lifetime what I designed to give them.

And lastly I do make and constitute my well beloved son WILLIAM WOFFORD & my trusty friend WILIE WILLFORD (note: difficult to decipher on original. Surname likely WILLIFORD, i.e. WILIE/WYLIE WILLIFORD, son of BRITTAIN WILLIFORD; both are in numerous records in Spartanburg) Executors to this my last will and Testament, in witness whereof I the said JOHN WOFFORD Sen have hereunto set my hand and seal the day & year above written.

Nathaniel Wofford witnessed Nathaniel Wofford who died before 1827 probably in Georgia, and left orphaned children? Was this the Nathaniel Wofford, who went to GA, and was he the one who was living in open adultery with Polydor Naylor's wife, Elizabeth from about 1815 through at least the time the divorce decree was issued 1821. This was the first divorce decree issued in St. Clair County, AL. Polydore Naylor was a probate judge from 1821-1823. Polydore moved from GA to AL and took his wife, Elizabeth to get her away from this Nathaniel Wofford thinking it would solve the problem but Elizabeth ran back to GA and to Nathaniel Wofford, wouldn't leave Nathaniel and go back with Polydore Naylor to AL. He filed for the divorce, and it was granted. I have nothing more on this Nathaniel Wofford
